A recent study looked at walkability in America’s largest metropolitan areas. They found that the best cities, now and for the near future, are:

  1. Washington, DC
  2. New York
  3. Boston
  4. San Francisco
  5. Seattle

Sadly, these five are the only metro cities in all of America who were ranked Level 1 (high) for both current and future walkability. Have a look at the study’s graph for more detail and how other cities fared:
